What happens to the excess wax in the drip dock of the Performance Wax Heater?

When you hot wax your chain, there’s always one practical question that follows. “What happens to all the wax that drips off the chain?” It’s a good question, so let’s explain how we designed this part of the system.

FAQ

The drip tray does the work

After the waxing cycle is finished and you lift the chain out of the bath, you place it in the dedicated tray at the back of the heater. That tray is designed specifically to catch all the wax that drips off the chain while it cools down.

Instead of wax landing on your workbench, your floor, or your hands, it’s contained in one controlled space. Over time, if you wax multiple chains or run several cycles, that tray will start to collect a noticeable amount of wax.

And that’s completely normal.

What do you do when the drip dock is full?

At a certain point, you’ll see that there’s quite a bit of wax sitting in the tray. Cleaning it is intentionally simple. You remove the spool first, so you have clear access to the top silicone part of the heater. That silicone section is fully removable.

Once you take it off, you can simply push the collected wax out. It comes out cleanly and in one piece. There’s no scraping required and no tools needed.

After that, you place the silicone top back in position, and the heater is ready for its next waxing cycle.

Why we designed it this way

The goal wasn’t just to make waxing fast. It was to make every step around it clean and predictable. Waxing should not mean cleaning up afterwards for ten extra minutes. The drip tray and removable silicone top make sure the excess wax is contained and easy to remove.

It’s one of those small design details that doesn’t shout for attention, but makes the whole experience smoother.
