Lidl-Trek and Cyclowax officially made the best hot wax in the world

We don’t often say things like this just to say it. But when someone like Adam from Zero Friction Cycling spends hours testing our Race Wax properly, independently, and without shortcuts and the results come back like this, it’s worth sharing. Over the past years, we’ve been quietly improving our wax formulas. Testing more. Controlling more variables. Iterating again and again with the pro riders of Lidl-Trek, with the mechanics, with the staff. And with our new Race Wax Tablet, all of that work finally came together. Not in marketing claims. In real, measurable results.

What actually gets tested (and why it matters)

Adam put our Race Wax Tablet through Single Application Longevity (SAL) testing. In simple terms: how long does one wax treatment protect your chain from wear? Not how fast it feels in the first 10 minutes. But how long it keeps working before your chain starts wearing faster.

This matters because chain wear doesn’t just cost you watts. It costs you chains, cassettes, and chainrings. And this is where things got interesting.

Outstanding performane in harsh conditions

The first big result came from extreme conditions testing. Think dust, dirt, contamination. The kind of riding where most waxes give up early.

The Race Wax Tablet didn’t. It outperformed:

  • Previous ultra-premium immersive waxes (Silca Hot Melt, M-Speed Wax, etc.)

  • Even Hot Wax X, which was long considered the endurance benchmark

For you as a rider, that means:

  • Longer rides without the chain drying out

  • Better protection when conditions turn ugly (perfect for gravel, MTB or just a ride in winter)

  • Ride looooong before needing to rewax

This isn’t a wax that only shines in perfect conditions. It holds up perfectly in gravel, mud, sand and rain.

Long lasting, short break-in

One common downside of long-lasting hot waxes? They often feel slow and draggy at the start, when you just put the chain back on after a wax session.

Adam was very clear about this, with the Race Wax Tablet:

  • Break-in feels normal

  • No heavy drag for the first hour

  • No “waiting for it to come alive”

The Race Wax breaks in just as easily, but keeps going way longer. And that balance is rare.

Dry road testing

Normally, the longest-lasting lubricants in dry conditions aren't always hot waxes. Liquid wax does really well for example in "perfect conditions".

During Adam's testing, the Race Wax Tablet kept protecting the chain interval after interval, with no sudden drop-off. Wear increased slowly and predictably, not all at once.

In Adam’s own field testing after 14 hours of riding:

  • Stil quiet

  • Still smooth

  • Still not feeling dry

That’s well beyond what most hot waxes manage in real-world riding.

Built together with Lidl-Trek

This Race Wax Tablet wasn’t developed in isolation. From the start, we worked closely with Lidl–Trek, testing and refining the formula on the bikes of professional riders.

Not in a lab alone, but in real racing conditions, mud, dust, rain, and long days in the saddle.

The goal was never to create “another” wax.
It was to make the best possible hot wax for the highest level of racing.

Every iteration was tested. Then tested again.
And only moved forward if it performed better than the last. What you’re riding today is the result of that process.

“The goal is to be the best team in the world, so we have to be ahead with innovation."

- Glen Leven, Head of Performance Lidl-Trek

The pros use it and you can too

The Race Wax Tablet didn’t become what it is by accident. It’s the result of months of testing, iteration, and refinement.

If you want to ride the offical best hot wax in the world, you can.
